Meet Adriana Clifford

About Adriana Clifford

Family has always been the foundation of my life and the source of the values that guide me every day , for more than 43 years, St. Catharines has been the place my husband , Peter , and I have proudly called home.

Here, we raised our two children, built lifelong friendships , and experienced the kindness and support that makes this community so special. Like many families in St. Andrew’s ward, we understand the importance of safe neighbourhoods , strong local services, and creating opportunities for future generations.

Throughout my life, I have believed that serving others is one of life’s greatest privileges, whether teaching students, volunteering with community organizations, or helping newcomers build a new beginning, my goal has always been to listen, to support , and bring people together. I believe that when families feel connected and supported, our entire community becomes stronger.

The values that have shaped my family – respect , compassion, hard work, and service – are the same values I will bring to City Council. I am committed to listening to residents, working collaboratively, and helping build a ward 2 where families , seniors, businesses , and newcomers can continue to grow, thrive, and feel proud to call St. Catharines home.

I have known Adriana Clifford for two decades in both a personal and professional capacity. Over these years, she has dedicated immeasurable hours to community work and involvement with community organizations, not to mention her constant support for and attendance at community events. She is a true cheerleader for St.
Catharines and Niagara Region.

I know firsthand how she has voluntarily made herself available as a communications conduit and information source for countless members of the immigrant community, a trait that will serve her future constituents well, which includes me.

I know she will work hard as a City Counsellor, and I have no hesitation in supporting her candidacy and I encourage you to do so as well.

“I am proud to endorse my friend Adriana Clifford for St. Catharines City Council, Ward 2.

I have known and worked with Adriana since about 2013, primarily through her work as a Spanish interpreter. Over the years, I have come to know her as a warm, positive, generous, deeply family and community-minded person.

Adriana has spent more than three decades building a life of service through education, language access, immigration support, and community leadership. She has taught Spanish at Niagara College and with the District School Board of Niagara, worked for many years as an immigration and court interpreter, founded the Latin Immigrant Niagara Community Association, and co-founded Niagara’s first Spanish radio program.

Adriana’s commitment to community runs through everything she does. She has volunteered extensively with Bridges Niagara Immigration and Refugee Services, formerly the Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre, including five years as Chair. Adriana has also served on the Legal Aid North Board of Directors and regularly participates in cultural and community events.

When my husband and I last attended Adriana’s annual birthday fiesta, I was struck by how many of her friends had first come to know her through immigration, language, and settlement work, including many people I had represented as clients.

Adriana is a devoted mother, grandmother and the kind of friend who shows up when you need her. When I was sick, she came straight over with homemade turkey soup. I believe Adriana would bring a new and much-needed perspective to Council. She understands the importance of inclusion, culture, language, public service, and community connection. She would serve Ward 2and the City of St. Catharines with both heart and integrity. I am very happy to support Adriana Clifford for St. Catharines City Council, Ward 2.I know she will work hard as a City Counsellor, and I have no hesitation in supporting her candidacy and I encourage you to do so as well.

I am pleased to write this letter in support of Ms. Adriana Clifford and to share my personal experience of getting to know her for many years.

I had the privilege of knowing Adriana through her involvement with LINCA, (Latin Immigrant Niagara Community) where she served as President and demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Latin community. During that time, I was part of the LINCA dance group, an initiative that promoted and celebrated Latin culture by sharing our traditions, roots, and customs with the Canadian community.

Through her work with LINCA, Adriana showed a genuine passion for bringing people together, strengthening cultural connections, and creating opportunities for the Latin community to feel represented and valued. Her leadership, compassion, and commitment to serving others have continued to be evident throughout the years. I strongly believe that Adriana will bring the same dedication, integrity, and community-focused approach to her role as a City Councilor in St. Catharines. Her experience, values, and connection with the community will allow her to make a meaningful and positive contribution to our city.

I have great admiration and affection for Adriana and have no doubt that she will continue to serve with commitment, respect, and passion.

I have known Adriana and her husband for over 40 years. Together they have raised two wonderful children and are now blessed to be enjoying grandchildren as well.  For many years she has been involved and committed to her volunteer work with the multicultural society. She is diligent, smart, attentive, and is morally grounded. I have every confidence that she will work hard and be an asset for all her constituents as a counsellor in St. Andrew’s Ward.

I am excited to endorse Adriana Clifford for the position of St. Andrew’s Ward City Councillor.

I met Adriana close to 15 years ago when I was one of her students at Niagara College studying Spanish. From that class moving forward, I continued to learn from her, always trying to take her courses whenever they were offered.  She was extremely dedicated to her job and her students’ successes.  I became part of various community groups because of her leadership and encouragement as well. Adriana is a strong, energetic, empathetic woman, and is always encouraging her students, friends, and family to join in community events.

I consider Adriana a longstanding friend who puts others before herself and works tirelessly and seemingly effortlessly to help others succeed.  She is the reason why I aspire to be a Spanish interpreter in the future and I continue to turn to her for guidance in achieving my goal as she is an approachable natural leader and counselor.  As a long standing Niagara resident, I look forward to having Adriana represent citizens like myself who share common values and ideas with her.   I know she will be committed and work tirelessly to help our community thrive.

Thank you,

I write this letter with genuine pride in support of Adriana Clifford as a candidate for City Council.

I have known Adriana for 18 years, nearly since the day I arrived in this city. And what I can say with absolute certainty is this: I know her not as a title, not as a resume, but as a human being.

From the very beginning, Adriana was someone our community could trust. She dedicated years of her life to serving as a translator for immigration lawyers, sitting beside families navigating some of the most difficult and uncertain moments of their lives. She did not just translate words; she translated courage. She helped people who had left everything behind find their footing in a new country, in a new language, in a new culture.

She has been a steady, quiet, and consistent presence for the Latino community in Niagara for as long as I have known her. Not because it was her job. Because it is who she is.

Adriana believes in family. She believes in community. She believes in honesty, in progress, and in the dignity of every person regardless of where they come from. These are not values she speaks about; they are values I have witnessed her live, year after year, in the way she treats people.

St. Catharines is a city of many voices, many stories, and many needs. It deserves representation that comes from a place of deep human understanding, earned through years of real service, real presence, and real connection to its people.

Adriana Clifford is that person. I am proud to support her – and I encourage every resident of St.

Catharines to support her on election day.

I have had the privilege of knowing Adriana Clifford for more than 25 years, and throughout that time I have admired her dedication to our community, her integrity, and her genuine desire to help others.

As a business owner, I know how important it is to have leaders who listen, work hard, and understand the needs of the people they serve. Adriana has spent decades building bridges between cultures, supporting newcomers, volunteering with community organizations, and advocating for families across St. Catharines. She doesn’t seek recognition, she simply gets involved and makes a difference.

What stands out most about Adriana is her ability to bring people together. She listens with respect, treat  everyone fairly, and follows through on her commitments. These are the qualities we need in a City Councillor.

I am proud to support Adriana Clifford for St. Andrew’s Ward. I know she will be a thoughtful, approachable, and hardworking representative who will always put residents first. I encourage everyone in our community to support her on election day.
